Advertising and what I have learned

Advertising is a complicated thing to deal with and understand.  It is not as easy as you think and not all advertising works for everyone.  Some advertising cost money and some is free but you got to put a lot of effort into it.  All I have to say is there is no quick fix to get people to your website, blog or page.  It takes time and energy and you have to be willing to work.

I have tried different types of advertising and I really tried to stick to free advertising.  This is because I did not have a lot of money to start my business but I wanted to do it.  So first thing first, finding different places to advertise.  These are different things I have tried and have worked for me.  I am not saying they work for everyone.  We all have different items and personalities and each one of these work for different people.

The first and free place I would start to advertise is social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, and etc.  The one thing you need to realize about these types of advertising is that they are soical media nobody wants to be spammed.  This means you want to now only post your new items but you want to talk about normal everyday things.  You want to draw your audience in.  You want to offer special discounts and prizes through these.  This way people will come to your page and look and want to interact with it.  You do not have to offer specials and prizes but they do help bring in your audience.

Second place I would look for advertising is going to blogs that relate to what you do and post on them.  This is called creating backlinks and they will help you rank higher on google and people may click on your link you never know.  You want your website out there and for everyone to see.  This does not mean find one blog and just write on that one.  You want to find multiply blogs to write on.  You also don't want to spam, you want to write good content that has something to do with the post.

The Third thing I would look into is paid advertising.  Currently I have not done much of it due to the fact I have to pay for it.  I just started using facebook ads.  I have gotten 7 clicks through and from what I could tell one sell from them.  That is after one day.  What I like about the ads is I can really narrow down who I want to see them.  Thanks to facebook having so many details about people they can really customize their ads to only be visiable to the audience you want to reach.  One thing I hate is waiting for the ads to work.  One thing I always forget is the more people see my add the more they will want to click it and see where it leads.  This means I have to give it time to work and I might lose some money at the beginning but it will come back to me one day.

Other paid advertising I want to start looking into is through blogs.  You want to find blogs related to what you sell but also ones that have people that interact with their blogs.  Just because they have a big fan base does not mean they have a lot of people reading their blog on a daily basis.  I currently have not paid for advertising on blogs but I have been featured on blogs before and it does bring in new people.

The last thing that can help you advertise is getting involved in daily deal sites such as Very Jane and auction sites such as tophatter.  Yes they do take a portion of your sales and your profit might not be as good as you want but it is advertisement.  Each of these offers the opportunity to link your page so people can click through to see your store.  This way you are not only selling your items and making money you are bringing people to your store to see your other items.

Well that is about all I have to say on the matter currently.  As I tried more and more things I will look into doing another post to update people on what else I think works and might work for you.  Really running a business and advertising is all about trial and error.  You also need to remember to do your research and look into if these ventures are right for you.  The web really has so much free information for you, that you can learn so much.

Much Love,
Deanna

Managing family and work

With all the creating going around at my house sometimes I have to step back and see that I need to have some other fun.  I love being able to create and sell items for people to create with but sometimes I need to stop and spend time with the family.  It is the little moments that matter and make up all the big moments.  I am currently engaged and about to start planning for a wedding in September.  I also have a 16 month old little girl running around my house.  She is crazy and the joy of my life.
Here she is helping mommy get ready for christmas! I love being able to hang out with her and have some fun.
She wanted to help test out the lights and make sure they work.  It's these little moments that I miss out on when I get to caught up in my own work.  This is why I try to balance it all out.  The first thing I do is set aside time to do something, just the two of us each day.  If that is just going outside and playing with the dogs or teaching her to bang on the pots and pans in the kitchen.  Doesn't matter I just find something for us to do each day.  This doesn't mean I don't do a lot with her besides this one thing but I do work 50 plus hours a week at my day job.  So sometimes there really is only time for one thing each day.
I also hate her seeing me sit on a computer all through the day, so I save things that involve the computer for when she is napping or already in bed.  This way she doesn't see me just playing on the computer all day.  I want her to have fun and get outside sometimes.  It takes a lot of control to balance everything in my life and get it all done.  I can't seem to ever get everything done but that is okay as long as I get to spend time playing with my daughter.

Bottle Caps and their uses!!!!

Well sorry it took so long but now it is time to tell you all the awesome uses you can do with Bottle Caps.  Bottle Caps are a new super popular to add a little flair to your designs.  You can use them for bows, hair clips, key chains, scrapbooking and anything you can think of.  They are really great to create many new and fun things.

Lets start with how to use my bottle caps and turn them into necklaces for your little ones.  First you start by buying a set of my bottle caps. Like these cute flip flop bottle caps.

You then take these bottle caps and attach my glue on bails to these bottle caps.
You can use any glue you prefer but the best in my opinion is E6000 that you can buy from any craft store and in the near future my online store.  After you attach that all you need to do is buy a chain necklace.

Like the picture above!
After you have finished all that you will have a bottle cap necklace.  Now if you want to custom create these bottle caps you can also do that.  Either through my shop or by buying the bottle cap, pdf for the picture and epoxy stickers separately.  I have on order the bottle caps and epoxy stickers so that I can start selling them in my shop so you can make your own creations.  I hope you enjoyed this post.  On a side note sorry I did not have a flattened bottle cap necklace made right now to show you. I hope the regular bottle cap will work for you.
Have a wonderful day.
Thank you
